Scarlet without Rhett!

My poor sweet baby girl!!!!!  She had a small spot on her cheek Thursday night that looked like a bug may have bitten her but not really then Friday she looked like this!  She may have Scarlet Fever {strep with a rash} we are waiting on the test to come back. She is on meds and will hopefully be up and about very very soon! I am so happy I was able to get her to smile today :o) I LOVE her!!!!!

I am having a very slow sewing day here since I keep checking on her every three minutes!!!

Hope you are having a great and productive weekend!!!!

QAL Happy blocks 5 and 6

First , I must apologize for the constant changes with the blog look yesterday. I am trying to decide what looks good and what does not and I have to see it for real to decide. I hope you all like the new look! The header is still too big and I will be tweaking that later.

Now that I have a printer with ink and printing paper I was able to finally get back to the  QAL on Sew Happy Geek! Hopefully I can keep Adam away from that copy feature!

I chose to do both of these in Denyse Schmidt Daisy Mae. So bright and happy!!!!!

Tutorial for block #5 HERE

I know this one is different from the original layout but I accidently put it on the wall this way and I really like it :o)

My trial with paper piecing

I have been afraid to try paper piecing for a very long time. I don't know why I thought I would fail so miserably that I could not recover my standing ( in my brain) as a sewer if I could not master, or at least submit to, this skill.

Friday was a lovely day and Saturday we started having some winter weather that kept me inside

and the kids went out to sled or at least slide across the thin layer of ice covered by a smattering of snow so I had some time

I came across a tutorial that I had printed up about a year ago on Free Spirit Fabric and decided I need to take the plunge and give it a go!

I am so happy I did, it was an easy and fun tutorial and I just had to figure out how to make it square instead of round ( LOTS of pins!!!!!!!).

I did a super simple nothing of a quilting to just give it something :o)

Joel Dewberry Heirloom goodness was my inspiration and I think it is STUNNING! I need to make a matching pillow so this one is not alone.

** I must apologize for the photos they weather is still gray and gloomy**

Fun Friday Fandango Floor pillows

I had some Fandango and some thoughts on covering some mismatched floor pillows that needed some help! I came up with these covers.

These are BIG pillows so pictures were difficult and Katy was not a willing participant today. She did offer to take a photo for me to try to show the size. I love my girl!

I used the tutorial on Design Sponge for the zipper closures which is ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!

( the tag is from the old pillow and I never got around to taking it off)

Yippee for new floor pillows!!!!!!

A new Quilt A Long block

I love stars in the sky at night and in a quilt. Faith at Fresh Lemons is doing a great series of stars!!! FUN! I was not completely sold on starting another project until I saw Sara's at Sew Sweetness. Thank you Sara!!!!

Here is my first one :o) Super straight forward, easy and FAST! I dove into my Amy Butler for this one.  I have decided all of my blocks for this one will be from a mix of the Amy Butler lines I have in my stash.

Fishy friends quilt top my WIP for the week

I finally have gotten around to making these guys a place to hang! I wanted it to be simple and bold!

I dragged Katy out in the WIND! Good Golly it was windy yesterday and through her complaining I was able to get a couple of shots.

Look at how tightly she is holding it,LOL! It kept being blown almost out of her hands!

I will be binding it using the brown and orange HR dots and will hopefully have this quilted this weekend, if we are able to not have yet another bug come visit!

The reason for my rush to get this completed is what came in the mail Friday...

GASP! *THUD*

I will be starting on a quilt for Moda Bake Shop this week! Happy Dance!!!

The No Go post

This is me and my no go self. I have sewn almost NOTHING for more than a few days{ and it is HORRIBLE}.  I do not wish no sewing no my worst enemy...it is TORTURE!!!!!  I thought it was because of working out too hard Friday.  Nope, by Sunday I was asleep in front of the fireplace like a cat.  The in house engineer knew it was bad when I announced that I had no interest in checking Facebook or PINTEREST!!!!!! I am feeling more like a human being again today and will hopefully have some amazing stuff to share soon :o)

Now everyone please go wash your hands just in case!!!!

A couple of things on a rainy day...

Some rainy days I feel like doing nothing and some provide the opportunity to keep me inside and in the sewing room. I was able, between dropping and picking up kids at their functions, to...

finish the next two blocks for the Sew.Happy.Quilt. QAL and I could not be happier with them :o)

and a diaper clutch using the tutorial from A Lemon Squeezy Home

I have had the best January !

I had this GORGEOUS package show up at my door Saturday. Saturdays seem to be the best post days for me :o) I did a swap with the sweet and fabulous Brooke from April Two Eighty.  She is so beautiful and creative and cool and everything I wish I had been at her age! When I grow up I want to be Brooke :o)

I also happened upon something I have wanted/needed for quite some time, a proper sewing table. Mine was a Ethan Allen sofa table that I love but my knees would hit every time I would sew and that is not fun.  I was in a local thrift store and was looking at a vintage Kenmore and when I picked it up I saw it was sitting on this table.

The tag said $15 but the lady told me all furniture was 1/2 off!!!!!! I brought her home for $7.50...** HAPPY DANCE** A few modifications and some paint and she will be PERFECT! I am so happy my  sewing room on a budget is coming together!!!!

The most exciting news...

I get to play with some of this very very soon!!!! OMG! So pretty!!!!! I cannot wait to share what I am making with this beautiful line :o)
         {photo from simplify}

Back to organizing and sewing in between :o)

Feeling scrappy

With my scraps out and myy rotary cutter at the ready I am experimenting with some sort of scrappy wonky coin something or other for my small pillow on my gray chair ( that I still have not finished). Hopefully it will look like it does in my head, which is SUPER AWESOME :o)

I also finished these today!!!!! I joined the Sew.Happy.Quilt.QAL to help in my desperate attempts to do something to motivate me and it WORKED!!!

Back to organizing and taking care of a sick one home from school. More making the non sick one leave her alone!!!!

Happy New Year and a small psa

Happy New Year!!! I wish I could say this was me today...

But I cannot, I have been spending my New Year, so far, organizing and doing a LOT of sewing for some future projects I am so excited about and cannot wait to share but I have to darn it !!!!

My New Year's Eve was an event much like my Christmas Eve, I got mail!!!!!! I joined my first swap ever organized by Victoria at  Bumble Beans. THANK YOU Victoria :o) She paired  me with the SWEETEST gal in Australia, Sally at So Sew Sally,  and I am overwhelmed by what she sent me :o)

GAH!!!!!!

She included Australian designers  Saffron Craig and Prints Charming along with some Aboriginal fabrics. All very lovely and I love them all!!!!

How cute is this little guy?

The best smelling soap ever! Katy is trying to sneak this one to her room :o)

A signed copy of this AWESOME pattern...YES!!!!!

And I am not sure who told her that my FAVORITE all time color is this one. Really beautiful

Sally, Thank you so very much for making my new year start off so well!!!!

Now for the psa!

For the record, Kona white and Kona snow are two VERY different colors in good lighting, *HEADSMACK*
