Monday Motivation! { free pattern link in post }

It is Monday!  The second day of the official week and the first day of usual dread to most. Time to get busy with work, kids, and just regular life in general!  Instead of the usual doom, I will be attempting to bring some joy and inspiration into this otherwise deemed day of gloom by providing free patterns from fabulous designers, sewing humor or just a fun thought.

 Welcome to Monday Motivation!

Over the weekend I was busy sewing binding onto a quilt and my hands decided they were done!  I have had this free Cat-Eye Zippered Pouch Pattern by Sherri from Thread Riding Hood on my must do list forever!And so I did :o)

For my pouch, I chose the sweet Heather Ross gnome for the fussy cut part ( the goldfish were pulled too but the gnome won this round), Katie Jump Rope by Denyse Schmidt .  The one shown is the original from back in the day but there has been a reprint of this very popular collection by Free Spirit Fabrics and you can find it on DS Quilts, Fat Quarter Shop  or Westwood Acres.  I constructed the pouch with Aurifil 50wt and created beautiful topstitching with Aurifil 28wt.  Hi impact topstitching without the fuss...LOVING!

These guys helped out with the photos.  They were my grandmother's.  She had a small collection of tiny animals that she kept over the sink in her kitchen.  I always loved them and now I have a variety of them all over my sewing room to keep me company.

Sherri did an outstanding job with both the instructions and the photos in her pattern ( I cannot believe it is FREE).  She makes this pouch a breeze for every level no matter if you are a beginner or an expert!

This pouch is perfect for a variety of items.  I am sure I will be making more this week for the girlie to put her pencils or make-up in for stylish keeping!

Thank you for stopping by and if you are looking for more fun and inspiration you can find me on

So funny -- I've been wanting to try this pattern and got around to it this past weekend using Cloud 9 Rainwalk canvas (my pouches aren't done yet, though -- figured might as well make 2 at once ). Maybe there was something in the air?
