Hack That Tote { Halloween HACK}

Do you ever wonder about making a simple tote bag?  What fabrics to choose, different types of interfacing ( what IS interfacing anyway) or how to get that nice finished boxed bottom?

Mary Abreu from Confessions of a Craft Addict can answer those questions and MORE! Mary is one of the most FUN people I have ever had the pleasure to meet!  She takes her sewing seriously but makes it fun and easy for everyone to learn how to!

Mary's newest book Hack That Tote published by C&T Publishing, is the how to book everyone needs for starting out and building on basic tote skills!

Here is my HACK!  A new Halloween Tote bag!

The basic Tote pattern is SO fast and easy, it can be made in under an hour!   I used a canvas fabric from Ikea and opted out of the interfacing option.   The handles are from a thrifted heavy duty belt that I just cut up for lugging all of the candy that will be in the bag!

I used Aurifil 40 weight to give this bag more strength for carrying all around the neighborhood!  Adam is digging it already!

Here are some other projects from the book when you are looking to go past the basic tote stage:

These Nesting bins are my next project from Mary's book!

So many amazing choices!

Halloween candy? No such thing! I eat chocolate 12 times a year for about 3 days straight and I don't touch the other stuff.

My favourite is the mini Butterfinger bars. Your bag looks like it would hold a substantial amount of goodies. My job is to make a Totonto Blue Jays pillowcase for the Halloween bag.

Now that I live in England and Halloween is not such a big deal what I miss are mini sized Payday bars. Like the tote and thanks for the opportunity to win.

When I was a kid, there was no Halloween in Germany... I only get what my kids don't like ;-) I do like all toffee-type things.

I love chocolate!

There is a candy bar called Take Five with chocolate, pretzels, caramel, etc. that is the best! They are sometimes hard to find in small sizes so stocking up at Halloween is a good idea. Or a bad idea, depending on your level of willpower!

Hiya!!! Adam is one lucky guy to get such a great tote for his Halloween candy. My favorite candy is Mounds bars, but I don't think there has ever been a candy that I have met and haven't loved. Too many to try and list here. Hope you have a great weekend. Hugs!!!

Great ideas. I need to make some new bags. My favorite candy is candy corn, but I can't get one made in US with no artificial colors/flavors, so I can't eat it anymore, booohooo. I guess I'll have to stick to Dove dark chocolate.

Actually I have three favorites ... M&M's, Hershey bars, and Dove Dark Chocolate.
