Sunday Stash! Sunday Drive

Pat Sloan is one of my best quilting friends!  She is not only a massive part of the entire quilting community, she is a caring person!

Sunday Drive is +Pat Sloan's  newest collection for +Moda Fabrics & United Notions and is perfect for the color lover in all of us!

Sunday Drive has a wonderful variety of neutrals ( mandatory in every stash), blues, greens and her ( and my) FAVORITE color...RED!

I chose some lovely +Aurifil 50wt colors for fun!

You can see all of the available variations of this collections including pre-cuts by visiting here.

Even more exciting is that Pat and +Jane Davidson are restarting The Splendid Sampler soon!  You will need the book for this year of excitement but it is already available for pre order here

Quilt Show and Sewing Fun!

This week was both Quiltcon and Mid- Atlantic Quilt Festival.  As much as I wanted to go to Savannah for the fun and fabulous, I stayed right here in Virginia for the fabulous and fun!

I have been to both events in the past and I am completely in awe at all of the quilts that are presented. If you have never been to a quilt show, I encourage you to find one that is manageable for you attend and GO!

This year I did get to see one of my all time favorite artist's work in person, +Dan Rouse.  Dan is one of those quilt artists that has his own style BUT he shakes it up and makes different things all of the time.  He is never in a box and I am always completely in LOVE when I see his work!

His quilt in the show was no exception!

Curvy, pieced, raw edge appliqué...AWESOME!!!!!!

There just happened to be the most wonderful quilt hostess ( I am not even sure what to call the volunteers with the white gloves) and I asked her if I could see the back.  If you have never seen Dan's work, if and when you do ( make a special trip if you need to), ask to see the back!  ALWAYS!

Dan's quilt backs are spectacular all on their own!

She was lovely and was completely surprised to see the back, as were a few other people walking by! She could only lift is so far but we all marveled at how incredible this quilt is and how fortunate we were to see it!

Thank you Dan for another spectacular quilt!

I also ran into Rob and Judy from +Olde City Quilts.  We spent a little time catching up.  I am hoping to be making a trek up to NJ very soon to check out their wonderful shop!  If you are near to them, GO SEE THEM!  They are so super sweet!

When I returned home, there was so much to catch up on but sewing took the priority spot! I threw on some old jeans, apparently could not locate matching socks, gathered up a handful of stuff ( I have NO CLUE why a turkey baster top is here) and started MAKING!  I may have been brain storming while I was sewing too, which is never a great idea but happens all of the time! This is my life 💥

I needed to make some more economy blocks for the soon to be MASSIVE WIP that I combined a couple of weeks ago.

These are paper pieced 4" finished economy blocks made with Japanese linen and Liberty of London.

I have paper pieced all of my block using +Aurifil 50wt thread.

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

Monday Motivation { Free Pillow Patterns}

Welcome back to Monday Motivation!  Do you change your home decor for the different seasons?  The easiest way I have found to make a space look fresh is to add new pillows!

This week Monday Motivation is full of wonderful inspiration and free patterns to brighten up your spaces!

Make one or make them all!

Bev from Flamingo Toes ( one of my all time favorite sites) has a tutorial for this Simple and Sweet Wonderland Spring Pillow available here.

Tatertots and Jello has a DIY stenciled Napkin Pillow Tutorial that is easy breezy! Find this tutorial by visiting here.

This pillow with a free tutorial from V and Co. is a breeze with a jelly roll! Find out how to make this  lovely pillow cover by visiting here.

And oldie but a goodie is the Sprocket Pillow Tutorial by Cluck Clock Sew!  I made this one years ago when I had just started my blog! You can make a fun one for your home by visiting here.

My tutorial for a Clamshell Flower is a fun texture cushion cover and easy to make! The tutorial is available here.

I adore the Raspberry Kiss Cushion made by Sew Delicious! She made hers with the quilt block pattern found on Wooden Spoons Quilts here.

This Color Pop Pillow by Lisa Calle for Moda Bake Shop is so fabulous!  Find this free tutorial here.

Because...SHARK!!!!!  This Shark Pillow pattern from Patchwork Posse cracks me up!  You can make this fun pillow too by visiting here.

Texture on pillows makes them pop a little more and adds something to an otherwise (sometimes) flat space. This Origami Pillow tutorial has that certain something that would make it special in any room.  Dear Emmeline guest posted this tutorial on Cassie Bustamante's blog here

Anorina from Samelia's Mum has the best tutorials and really lovely projects! The mix of Quilt As You Go and the embroidery are just perfect! Get this pattern then be sure to check out more by visiting here.

I hope you find inspiration in these tutorials and make some creative time for yourself!

Rainbow Quilt Top Finish!

I have been working on so many small blocks and projects, I have not had a finish of any kind in forever!

Sewing without a finish makes me feel even further behind with sewing projects!  They are all piling up and no end in sight!

Until today! I was able to finish this top in less than a day! SAY WHAT!?!

Read more to find out how!

Last weekend I went to Pineapple Fabrics for their Outlet Sale!  It was insanely busy and a ton of fun!  I wanted to bring home EVERYTHING but I was smart enough to pick up these two rolls! One is a Best Of Allison Glass ( everything she does is BEST OF in my opinion) and a roll of Tone on Tone strips.

I did not have a plan in mind but decided on simple is better!

Within an evening I had completed so much!  Then Heather from The Sewing Loft threw down a CHALLENGE to see who could finish first and it was ON!

To be fair she had a full days start on her project LOL!

She did finish before me but everyone in the house ( including me) is pretty impressed with the stunning colors and that it is done!

It is very simple to make! Strips sewn in groups of 3 or 4 and then trimmed to 5" rectangles then sewn as rows! It is stupid easy!  I am in LOVE!!!!!

I pieced the quilt top using my FAVORITE Aurifil 50wt #2600 that I am renaming Go-Go Grey! It is my hands down Go-To thread for all of my projects! Love this color!

I picked up some other goodies from the sale and will be dazzling you even more soon!

have you had any fast finish projects lately?

WIP Wednesday The Splendid Sampler!

Did you know that yesterday was the One Year Anniversary of The Splendid Sampler?

ONE FULL YEAR  ago we all started the fun block making madness with Pat Sloan and Jane Davidson!  Really crazy!

I have not finished all of the blocks but here is what I have up on the design wall!

Pat and Jane are going to restart and host a Sew Along with everyone so I will be joining in that fun to finish up the sixty blocks that I fell behind on! The life of a quilter always one block ( or sixty) behind 😉

Looking through the forty I completed, here are some of my FAVORITES...

Monday Motivation {Spring}

Welcome Back to Monday Motivation!  New Year's Day whizzed by, Valentine's Day is tomorrow!  Next in line is SPRING!  Only about 35 days until the official start of SPRING!

It is no secret that I am the biggest Winter Wimp that has ever lived.  Snow should only be experienced in photos from a warm beach somewhere that also provides fun tropical drinks with colorful umbrellas and has warm white sands! I am beyond pathetic in the cold and freeze if the temperature dips below 75 degrees!

That being laid out, you can surly understand how incredibly excited I am by Spring! Summer is better but at least I know Summer is closer!

Today's Monday Motivation is SPRING!

Life is beautiful with this free embroidery pattern from Bakercourt available here.

Master your French Knots with Down Grapevine Lane with this free Bunny in a Hoop pattern here.

This fun and colorful crocheted Maya Purse is a free pattern by Fabienne Chabrolin here.

This  crocheted garland is a beginners pattern and is free from Silly Old Suitcase here.

Country Living has an amazing collection of free cross stitch patterns including this adorable bee hive. Find all of the patterns here.

Glory Bee has floral fun with this free Spring pattern here.

I am completely in love with these Spring Cactus with a free pattern here from Makers Society.

Bijou Lovely's version of the Amsterdam quilt for Cloud 9 Fabrics is perfect for Spring! You can find the link for the free pattern here.

The lovely Apple Bloom Log Cabin Quilt is a free pattern from Tildas World here.

These lovely tulips are a free pieced pattern by Podunk Pretties.  Find this free pattern here.

Bring on the sunshine, flowers, longer daylight hours and kids playing outside! Come on Spring!
