I Spy Quilts have been around for a long time! They are usually a patchwork quit made from fussy cut squares for littles to delight in finding images that they love!
A bit ago, Missy and Kimie from On Williams Street approached me to see if I would like to try a new kind of I Spy Quilt, a paper pieced version! I was thrilled! I happen to love paper piecing and was on board! I mean, honestly, who could resist this SWEET paper pieced quilt?
"Much of our year has been working on the biggest project we’ve done to date. When we decided we were going to self publish a book, we had no idea it would be like birthing a baby. It’s been 100% worth it though and we have learned so much! We have appreciated all the love and support for this project and are so excited to announce our first book tour! We have an amazing line up of quilters that have been sewing up blocks from our I Spy book to share with you. There are so many cute blocks and ideas coming your way. You’ll definitely want to head to each post to see what they came up with."

One of my favorite things to do with kids is to read books! My house has had a full children's library for 33 years! It became pretty funny to go to the local library and try to find a title that we did not already have at home!
When I was looking through the blocks, I started thinking what a fun way to have children pick out what story they wanted to hear. I made the banana block for Richard Scarrey stories with Bananas Gorilla! The ballerina could be Angelina Ballerina, The cow could be Mrs. Wishey Washy, and the mouse is, of course, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie!
Most importantly, the blocks are so fast to make! From fabric pull to finish in less than an hour means that you could easily make one a day or a week and have a quilt in no time! My next block is the teacup that I will be dreaming of putting coffee in, because...COFFEE!!!

Love these paper pieced blocks. Where can we find the "I Spy Book" with the patterns for the quilt? Would love to make for my grandchildren.
