Catching up with Hide the Turkey!

The little man brought home a project from school for Thanksgiving where he was supposed to disguise a turkey so no one would find it for dinner.  FUN! My mind goes directly to something I know and he loves...FABRIC!

I had him go through some of the scrap baskets I keep in the sewing room.  He finds the best colors and really has a blast doing it.

We  learned about the joys of freezer paper and worked on tracing. I need more practice than he does, lol!

He asked if he could quilt with me and I may have squeeled with delight a wee bit.

He helped me with bubbles and some geometric designs

and it turned out to be ME!  Adam and I had a good laugh at our turkey and a very nice day together :)

Ahhh my son and I had to do one like this, but we glued some fabric on for feathers instead. He is in kindergarten.

Glad you enjoyed time with one another!!

That's brilliant and the photo of the two of you with your heads together, sewing, is just precious.

Awwwwww! That couldn't be more adorable! My youngest son shows a little interest in quilting, too. It's fun to let them pick out block designs and fabric, too. Have a super day!

How adorable is that?? I love it. What a fun project to do together. My little first grader had a turkey to decorate this year also, and I didn't even think of fabric...we glued down sequins and glitter and paper lace doilies. Next year....

When I was teaching, we read "A Turkey for Thanksgiving" by Eve Bunting. Then we would send the turkey home to be "dressed". The children loved this activity.
