A Funny Thing Happened...

Did you ever see the movie " A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum?" This post has absolutely nothing to do with that movie!

The movie title popped into my head when I was on the hunt for one 4x4 square of Wonder Under.  That is all I needed.  I searched high and low and everywhere in between ( and made a massive mess along the way) but it was just not meant to be. But while I was searching ( I had a mission like in On My Way to the Forum), I came across some things I had forgotten I made and that was enough to really get me off track.

I learned how to do embroidery on a car trip to Chicago almost four years ago.  I made stitches, got mad at how awful they all were and started over numerous times.  Despite my constant unstitching,  I finished a few small projects on the trip. When I was back home, I put them safely in a drawer and had completely forgotten about them.  It made me smile today when I was digging and out these popped!  They looked so much better than I remembered.  I am so overly critical of my own work. This is a lesson to me to lighten UP!

These were all made with Aurifil 12wt threads.  The floss is fabulous but if you have the 12 wt on hand, give it a go!  You will love it too!

This one was made as a quilt label for a baby blanket.  I guess I still need to send it!  I finished the label way after the quilt.  I am a very slow stitcher.

So other than the embroidery find, the 8 year old wanted a turtle of his own to match his log cabin quilt!  I may never make otto the Forum at this point!  So, here is new turtle, he is so far unnamed.  I liked Elliot but the young man said NOPE!  What would you name a log cabin turtle?

This day has gone way off track!  I gave up the search and had the boomerang boy stop on his way from college to pick up some Wonder Under for me.  Maybe I can resume my journey after a cup of coffee and a funny movie :o)

I love this post. It's funny finding all the half finished things we have long forgotten about.

you may not have found what you were looking for but these little embroideries are so delicate and now you can complete them, wish I could stitch on the bus as I spend quite a bit of time on them with my free bus pass, pays to be a pensioner!

So are you saying "I still haven't found what I'm looking for" - like the song?

Log cabins are made of wood. Name the turtle Woody :D

It's so nice to know I'm not the only one who gets distracted by old projects that I've come across while searching for "that thing" I can't find. :) I think Lincoln would be a great name for the turtle. Lincoln logs make cabins and Abraham Lincoln lived in a log cabin. Regardless of the name chosen, I'm sure the proud new owner will love him!

The phenomenon of movie titles spontaneously emerging in people's minds showcases the pervasive impact of film on our culture. These sudden mental flashes reflect the influence and resonance of cinema in our lives. It's a testament to the power of storytelling. Perhaps capturing these moments through a film review writing service could reveal intriguing connections between audiences and the films they recall.
