The Splendid Sampler HAPPY 50!

The Splendid Sampler is now, like me, FIFTY!  The halfway mark is upon us and some of the designers have decided to celebrate with highlights of the blocks we have made, some with have tips or free projects and some giveaways!

To date, I am a little behind for all 50 blocks but here are the highlights of the blocks I have made so far. I am sure I have made a few more but I could not find them in my photos.

It is interesting to see the project transform from the first weeks to now.

If you have not been sewing along with us, please come and join in the fun!  There are still FIFTY more blocks to make and many of the blocks that have been released are super fast to complete!  Catching up would be fun! You can get your free block downloads by visiting The Splendid Sampler.

These other FABULOUS designers from The Splendid Sampler are also celebrating this fantastic event!  Make sure to stop by their sites see what they have in store for you today!

Love your blocks, and your photo arrangements. I do prefer pieced blocks, but also enjoy machine applique and sewing Hexies.

I am having such a great time with the Splendid Sampler. I always enjoy seeing your blocks and love the way you set up your photographs!

I am an addict! I love sewing/quilting/hand embroidery/machine embroidery/fabric/thread/sewing machines/tools...the list goes on. I can't think of anything I don't like associated with fabric...now that's saying A LOT. :)

I love piecing first, followed by applique!

Thanks for the giveaway. My fave technique is raw-edge applique. Although, I've done a lot of pieced blocks this past year. And luv seeing hand embroidery in designs. Hexies, EPP, and paper-piecing are not yet favorites, of mine. And we'll see how much I need to alter some of those blocks.

I've liked doing all the blocks and my favorite ones are the appliqued ones!

Nanette said...

I'm just more of a piece maker....although I do like embroidery too. I don't do much that is complicated. I really like the Splendid Sampler and look forward to working on it for quite awhile, as I only have a few blocks done so far.

I like piecing, paper piecing and embroidery. Have enjoyed seeing all these blocks come together.

I love seeing all the different colour ways people are using to make this project. Exciting that we are at block 50. I have made about 14 and downloaded the rest of them. Not a fan of the appliqué or embroidery blocks, I prefer the piecing ones. I shall make them all when time allows. I enjoy the extra blocks and projects

I am really enjoying working on the blocks in SS and am learning so much that never would have been available to me in any other form. Thank you all.

Unknown said...

I love to do embroidery work so those blocks alone with with the paper piecing blocks are my favorite.

This has been a great experience. I am learning new techniques like paper piecing, still a way to go with that. Thanks to the designers for all the lovely blocks.

I love piecing, patchwork, scrappy, and applique. I haven't done embroidery since I was a teenager, wow! 40 years ago! I've never tried paper piecing but I will be learning that too! There are so many intricate paper piecing patterns (lol, say that one 3 times fast) I love.

I like regular piecing the best, done with pieces cut with a ruler and measurements, not templates or paper piecing.

I need to get the "umph" going on the paper pieced blocks! Most of the pieced blocks are up to date, but the applique are all in their own "maybe" pile!

Beth said...

My favorite technique is piecing, but my favorite splendid sampler block is EPP - Inchy Hexagon Club.

It depends on my mood. I don't have a particular favorite. Actually, maybe a block that combines multiple techniques.

Marilyn said...

I am enjoying the variety of techniques and patterns. I love working out which fabrics to use, even though it takes me so long to make up my mind.

Michelle M said...

I LOVE the piecing blocks, and paper piecing is a close second. But I'm intimidated by the teeny tiny EPP hexis!

Gene Black said...

I prefer simple pieced blocks. I really like making "crazy pieced" blocks with no plan, just some scraps and time to play.

Chelra said...

Piecing had always been my favorite but I have become to love all the styles we have been introduced to. Would have, could have never done it on my own. Thank you so much! Love your work!

Rachel said...

Oooh, tough question! Some days I'm in a piecing mood, some days I like paper piecing or I might want to sit and do handwork like applique and embroidery. I guess I love them all! In addition to the Splendid Sampler, right now I have a beautiful applique quilt in process (Simply Delicious by Piece o' Cake), a paper-pieced quilt that I designed myself, and a pieced Storm at Sea. I just rotate among them depending on my mood! Thanks for hosting this giveaway and for posing such a good question!
