The Great Destash Giveaway ( winner announced)

Seems like forever ago now that is started cleaning my sewing room!  I am getting closer to where I am satisfied with what I have and where it is all placed ( meaning I can walk in my room and not trip over piles any longer). I had mentioned a destash giveaway on instagram and there was plenty of support so here is the first...

This giveaway is a  STUNNING Dear Stella fat quarter bundle and two spools of Aurifil thread, the orange spool is 50wt #5001 and the green spool is 40wt #2240.

Thank you everyone!  Loved reading all the plans for the summer! More snow and school delays here.

Congratulations to

we have a trailer in a trailer park in the country, and spend as much of the summer as we can there. It's nice getting out of the city as I live in Montreal Quebec.

Unfortunately, during the summer I am usually homebound to the air condition due to physical needs. But, I do have more sewing time so that is a plus. :)

I love to spend vacations with family or friends, relaxing, eating great food, going for long walks and having a small hand-sewing project to work on when time permits - such a lovely change from sewing on my machine which is what I usually do at home.

"summer vacation" never meant anything to me other than "where in the world am I going to find daycare that I can afford...and why can't they have school year round?" as I had to work and my 2 kids were home alone often....and I worried and called them all the time! But what it did mean was my kids had a break from their "grind" and could sleep late and stay up late and have fun for a few months! I love those prints/colors, by the way!

We rarely ever get one 3 in 35 yrs, but we always go to Port Aransas,TX. 300 miles away, our honeymoon was there and we love it there. Wish we had a home, I found a quilt shop on the island last year, but she was closing-so sad. THANK YOU

Summer vacation means so many different things to me. Whether it's my toes in the sand, camping by the fire light, flying through the air on a roller coaster, or simply lying in a hammock - I don't care as long as I am spending time with my loved ones and making memories.

To us, summer vacation means no school, since we were both teachers. Now, every day is summer vacation! So, I guess that means read, sew, knit, make baskets.

Well, we usually go to historical areas for vacation. We both love that, but I always have mapped out every quilt shop in the area, in every town we plan to stop in. I have found many wonderful things by doing this...and I meet so many wonderful people. There is an added bonus....my husband does not mind me doing this! He loves watching me create things!

We go on a trip each summer usually around the end of July. My husband, two daughters and myself enjoy the time together away from home and our jobs. We have not decided where we will go this year. We are enjoying exploring parts of the United States we have not been to before.

Loving the giveaway! Wow! Last summer we went to the Outer Banks of North Carolina - BEST VACATION EVER! This summer I think we're going to stay closer to home and explore our home state a bit more (Wisconsin). I think sometimes your own state can be taken for granted and there are amazing things there to discover! We also do a 'Kids in the Garden' program at our apple orchard and my girls take swim lessons, gymnastics, etc - busy, busy! Thanks again!

As much as I'd love to say we go on fabulous vacations to the ends of the world, nope, we don't. Most years we stick close to home and do day trips. Sometimes we end up staying overnight somewhere if we get a little further from home than originally planned and others we are back home that night. We don't do this as often as we used to, but hopefully this coming summer we can do more of it, or maybe go further away but, we used to hop in the car and make a decision which direction we go after we get near the highway or interstate. Then it's always a surprise where we end up, but whether it's a long drive ending up sightseeing somewhere or just finding a new place to eat, we are together and that's the best part.

We used to do this for our sanity when we first got together because I had 3 teenaged boys and he had 1 himself which we melded into one family. We never told them when we left if we were going away for an hour or overnight to keep them on their toes and give any advance notice so they could plan parties. haha That was only possible because we had cell phones which they could contact us at anytime and us them. It was fun though never knowing where we'd end up.
