Monday Motivation 25 Free Skirt Patterns + Tutorials

Welcome back to Monday Motivation the weekly round up of fab free patterns and tutorials from across the web!

This week is a little different as lives are changing with schools and businesses closing or moving online to help with containment of  COVID-19. For at least the next two weeks our family will all be home, we will need to find ways to make the time a little less stressed. Sewing is definitely one way to reduce stress and make the days more pleasant while helping our family, friends and neighbors stay well.

It is important to keep you happy and filled with incredible resources during this time.

Since Spring is literally right around the corner, skirts are an easy make and you can find fabrics right in your stash!

Gertie's Gathered Skirt Tutorial has everything you need to know for how to make the perfect full gathered skirt in two parts!

Wrap skirts are perfect for warm days (cannot wait for some of those) and going to flea or farmer's markets! The free pattern by Andrea DeHart of craftybitch.com featured on Make includes two versions, one for beginners and one for the more advanced sewist.

Oh how FANCY! Loving the Tulle Skirt with a free tutorial by Maria Just Do It!

For a lovely A line skirt with pockets (who does not LOVE pockets) Daniela, from On the Cutting Floor created a free pattern + tutorial for the Bernina We All Sew Blog for her  Easy A-line skirt tutorial.

The only thing that may be better than pockets is a twirly skirt! Rebecca Page has got you covered with her free Betty – Vintage Circle Skirt Sewing Pattern!

Think you don't have the right fabrics on hand? Try digging in your closets! Check out this seriously stupid cute thrift shop upcycle by Thriftanista in the City

Pencil skirts are great for business and casual! You choose the fabric to suit your situation!

Lindy Petal Skirt Digital Sewing Pattern by Itch to Stitch is a free pdf pattern using knits

This free pencil skirt pattern requires you sign up with your email but it is lovely! Visit My Handmade Space to find out more

Need a skirt by the end of the day (or if you sew like Natalie in 30 minutes)? Elastic is the answer! Meghan Nielsen designed a super tutorial on How to Make an Elastic Waistband Skirt. This project is perfect for the beginner too!

Pom-poms make LIFE BETTER! Collective Gen  not only created free wrap skirt tutorial (a little math is required) but added pom-POMS! OH YEAH!!!!

Simple Simon & Company has Spring's number with this free tutorial for an updated version of the Vintagely Modern Skirt

Join Zune from Zune's Sewing Therapy to learn how to make this lovely Quarter Circle Skirt (Woven Version) that includes a free pattern and tutorial.

By Hand London has a DIY Gathered Skirt tutorial and shows three versions for the knee length, midi and mini versions!

If you have never drafted a skirt from scratch, Jeanette from the Lazy Seamstress is your guide with a tutorial to get you going!

Another A-Line drafting tutorial is by Sew Guide that includes three different ways to make your perfect skirt!

A tulle circle skirt is great for Spring and Summer fancy dress or fun photos! A Beautiful Mess takes you step by step through the process of making this memorable skirt!

I like big bows and I cannot lie! Tina from Grand Revival Designs has a lovely Pleated Wrap Skirt tutorial with a bow!

Another up cycled skirt using an old lace shirt. Trash to Couture's tutorial takes something meh and takes it to ab FAB!

My friend Heather from The Sewing Loft created a fantastically easy skirt tutorial that you will want to make 10 of for your Summer wardrobe!

Ran across this video for a High Low Maxi Circle skirt by Nadira 037 that stopped me in my tracks! It is a stunner and the video is really well done!   The video is below but also feel free to visit and subscribe to her Youtube Chanel!

Not all fabric has to be from a fabric store! V and Co.'s free tutorial: the tablecloth skirt uses, you have probably already guessed it...a tablecloth and Vanessa also teaches how to use a skirt you already own for the pattern pieces!

Ruffles are the new black! Add a sweet ruffle warp skirt into your me made wardrobe using

I want one of these in EVERY color and the beach, I want the beach too! I am apparently needy this Monday 😂  Delia Creates shares her free tutorial for her Easy DIY Fishtail Circle Skirt so you can make them in all the colors too!

Ruffles are fun! They are like Sunflowers, you cannot look at them and not smile! Ruffles and Roses created an Anthropologie Ruffled Skirt Tutorial for the fab skirt pictured below!

If you are anything like me, videos help you learn how to! Gretchen Hirsch made this fantastic video for Good Housekeeping on how to make a custom gathered skirt!
